(Not Much) About Me / Contact

She’s not a girl who misses much, do do do do do do do….

The original line in that verse was actually “she’s not a girl who can possibly pick a direction in life, so she just dabbles in everything,” but Paul told John that was a mite dodgy, mate.

My academic background includes secondary social sciences education and journalism, with a side of graphic/web design/photography and a certificate in Beatlesology. I’m licensed to teach journalism and the gamut of social sciences, but I find I’m most interested in anthropology and sociology. I committed to AmeriCorps six months after completing my undergraduate studies in hopes of rolling all those areas of interest into something meaningful. My non-academic background features, among other things: a pleasant Midwestern disposition, a staunch belief that the designated hitter is a societal travesty, and an affinity for Guinness, The West Wing, and drinking Guinness while watching The West Wing.

Of course, if you’ve read any of this blog at all, none of that should be surprising. Come for the descriptions of pedagogy in a pluralistic society, stay for the Star Wars metaphors and Cincinnati sports fan masochism.

Spoiler alert: Post-AmeriCorps, I completed my graduate thesis at Georgetown on cultural communication and how online communities of practice can aid knowledge-sharing and tacit training for ‘isolated’ AmeriCorps members. Also, the Reds are a lot better now.
